// About the Organization
Educating for Excellence strives to reduce socio-economic disparity, promote equality, and create social mobility opportunities for youth with potential for excellence from Israel’s social and geographic periphery.
// Project Description
Tofsim Kivun is a six month in-depth program designed for career excellence, where participants acquire the knowledge, tools and skills to help them pursue better employment opportunities and career development. In the first two months of the program, the workshops focus on preparing for employment: personal skills, self esteem, understanding the workforce and how to take an active part in it. Participants are guided by senior personal mentors from relevant fields of occupation who also help expand their network of professional contacts.
As the Swords of Iron War broke out, Tofsim Kivun examined the different ways in which we could help reconstruct Israeli society. We reached out to other populations, and today we also accompany teenagers who have been evacuated from their homes and whose routines have been disrupted. The main focus of the activity has been to continue to operate our centers of excellence across the country, while adapting the content of the program to the needs of the students, as in- adding sessions regarding personal resilience, dealing with trauma, etc.
// Project Goals
Tofsim Kivun believes that the key to strengthening the socio economic resilience of Israel's periphery, is by providing equal professional opportunities. The project strives to enable young college graduates and engineers from underserved communities across Israel, to acquire employment suitable to their abilities and education. Our ultimate goal is to ensure participants become employed in quality positions aligned with their degrees and set of skills.
// Target Population
Young college graduates or engineers residents of Kiryat Gat and the Lachish Regional Council, who want to find suitable employment within the professional fields they studied. Each cycle of the program has fifteen participants, there are two cycles a year.
