// About the Organization
The Lachish Regional Community Center serves as the heart of the communities in the council and the place that connects between the communities. The Lachish Community Center works to empower and strengthen the residents' sense of communal belonging.
// Project Description
The "Integrating into the Community" centers assist citizens exercise their rights with municipal and government authorities, employers, and commercial entities. Staffed by a manager, two coordinators (one fluent in Amharic, the other in Russian), and 20 volunteers, the centers operate three days a week in Kiryat Gat and one day a week in Lachish. The centers assist dozens of people monthly, including the elderly, Holocaust survivors, and immigrants in matters such as debts, housing rights, benefits, and more.
// Project Goals
The ‘Integrating into the Community’ centers help individuals and families exercise their rights, such as payment discounts, medical services, parking permits for handicaps etc. The center strived to have 100% of the people who ask for help become familiar with the different municipal and official institutions in the region. In addition the Integrating into the Community center strives to integrate at least 45% of those who turn to the center, benefit from the leisure activities the center has to offer.
// Target Population
Underprivileged families, individuals with disabilities, new immigrants, the elderly, Holocaust survivors, and more. The program serves 200 individuals annually, including: 150 from the Ethiopian community and 50 from the Russian-speaking community.
