// About the Organization
The Lachish Regional Community Center serves as the heart of the communities in the Council and the place that connects the communities together. The Lachish Community Center works to empower and strengthen the residents' sense of communal belonging and operates many non-formal programs.
// Project Description
The Active Community Project increases resilience in the region’s communities by building a wider community and strengthening local activists. Every year, between 3-6 representatives will be chosen from 4 settlements, who will undergo training and receive tools for solving problems in a collaborative way. The tools will then be applied in the settlements in the following methods: panels, collective thinking, mapping, surveys, and proposals for community entrepreneurship, in order to solve common problems. The final product of the process will be creating a local mechanism that will enable active action in dealing with risk situations.
// Project Goals
The purpose of the project is to increase a sense of security for people in the region dealing with risk situations, by running a broad Council network system. To provide tools that encourage volunteering and to develop a social protocol of shared values. Other goals include implementing community programs during times of routine as well as times of emergency, and to strengthen the communication between the residents and the local Council.
// Target Population
Target audience is 16 representatives from 4 settlements that are committed to the process. About 40 will be in the task forces for mapping and implementing programs. Indirect circles of influence are all participating communities.
